個展開催のお知らせ
この度、「桜山植物園」の代表として活動する須田小百合は、Pharos Coffeeにて個展「THE TORCH AND SEEDS」を開催します。
本展では、植物との関わりの中で感じた問いを起点に、写真やインスタレーションを通して出会いや対話の可能性を考察します。また、会場のPharos Coffeeで出会ったMay Yuとのセラミックワークの新作や、2023年に「Nocturnal Garden」で共同制作を行なったサウンドアーティスト、Nick Tsaiによるライブパフォーマンスをはじめ、会期中にいくつかのイベントを開催予定です。

◯ THE TORCH AND SEEDS
個展のタイトルにもなった作品「THE TORCH AND SEEDS」は、種を蒔いてから花が咲くまでの時間と、未来の自分や大切な誰かに宛てた手紙が宛先に届くまでの時間を重ね、時の流れや季節の移ろい、そして、日々静かに変化し続ける自然や自分自身に想いを馳せるコンセプチュアルワークです。（随時開催）
参加費 税込3300円
内容 レターセット + collage作品（2025年春にお届け）
会場内に設けられたポストに手紙を投函すると、須田が活動する畑「Farm Garden」にチューリップの球根が植えられます。皆さんが書いた手紙は、そのチューリップが咲く来春に、須田によるコラージュ作品とともに宛先に届けられます。手紙を送る相手は誰でも構いません。例えば、未来の自分へ、春が誕生日の人へ、久しぶりに連絡したい人へ、未来を想って種まきしてみてはいかがでしょうか。
・参加ご希望の方は、コーヒーカウンターで受付を済ませ、参加用紙とレターセットを受け取ってください。
・ギャラリースペース内、またはカフェスペースで手紙をお書きいただけます。
・事前に書いてきた手紙を投函していただく場合には上記価格から100 円引きとなります。
・封筒(定形郵便物サイズ推奨)には宛先と差出人を必ず記入してください。確認のため会場にて参加用紙にもご記入いただきます。
・切手は不要です。
・日本国外宛の場合は+1000円を頂戴します。
・宛先不完全の場合、配達できない場合があることをご了承ください。

針葉樹やユーカリの枝をたっぷり使った香り豊かなフレッシュなリースを作ります。個展開催中のギャラリースペースを使って制作をお楽しみいただきます。部屋いっぱいに広がる森の香りをお楽しみください。

Sayuri Suda, a flower artist who works under the name of Sakurayama Botanical Garden, is pleased to present her solo exhibition “THE TORCH AND SEEDS” at Pharos Coffee.
This exhibition takes as its starting point ideas Suda has conceived in her sustained relationship with plants, and will explore the possibilities of encounter and dialogue through photographs and installations. In this exhibition, Suda will showcase her solo works and new collaborative ceramic pieces created with May Yu, a Taiwanese artist Suda met at Pharos Coffee, and host several events including a live performance by sound artist Nick Tsai, a Taiwanese composer she collaborated on the project “Nocturnal Garden” in 2023.
The title piece “THE TORCH AND SEEDS,” associates the time between the sowing of a seed and the blooming of a flower with the time it takes for a letter to reach its destination, addressed to a future self or someone important, to reflect on the passage of time, the changing seasons, and the daily quiet changes in nature and ourselves.
If you post your letter to the postbox set up at the venue, a tulip bulb will be planted in the “Farm Garden,” a field where Suda is based. Your letter will be delivered with Suda’s collage work to the recipient next spring around the time when the tulips bloom. The recipient of your letter can be yourself in the future, someone whose birthday is in spring, or someone you have not heard from in a long time. Why don’t you imagine the future and plant a seed for it?

Includes: Letter writing set + collage work (to be delivered in spring 2025)
*You can write letters in Pharos Coffee.
*If you drop a letter or envelope you prepared prior to the visit to the venue into the postbox, you will receive a 100 yen discount from the above price.
*Please make sure to write the addresses of the recipient and sender on the envelope (standard mail size recommended). For conformation, please fill in a form provided at the venue.
*No stamps are required.
*If the envelope is addressed outside of Japan, an additional ¥1,000 will be charged.
*Please note that a letter or an envelope with an incomplete address may not be delivered.
